In 1944, Lawrence Munkel, a home builder in Northeast Iowa, began a rich and deep tradition of customizing projects by providing hand built cabinetry.  His son, Steve, soon joined the family business and expanded the tradition by establishing a small custom cabinetry and wood working shop in Decorah, IA  In order to expand product selection, Cabinet Concepts opened its doors in 1990.  Today, Cabinet Concepts offers the finest in cabinetry, design and installation.  We put more into our cabinets so that you get more out of them.

Kari Franzen, Interior Designer and owner of K.L. Design, graduated from the University of Northern Iowa, majoring in Interior Design. Kari has been designing kitchens and baths for the past six years.

Heidi Hageman recently graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a degree in Interior Design and is now working with Kari designing kitchens and baths.

Gary Ballard has been building custom cabinets for the past 22 years. Gary prides himself on the finer details of cabinetry he produces. He enjoys working with all types of woods and enjoys the unique and unusual situations that create interesting cabinetry.
